For
four years, Karl & Mary Wescott (Wescott's Auto Restyling)
led the Northwest leg of the Americruise. From that experience,
Mary had a spark of an idea… to explore the fabulous
and diverse beauty that is uniquely Oregon. A 1280 mile loop
that would take most participants no more than a day away
from home. She asked if the Route 26 Cruisers was interested
in running with her idea… and we jumped at the opportunity
to organize and lead this great tour!
Join us in this passion… this madness… we call
cars!
Barbara Hussey, Chairperson of Cruise Oregon 2001-2005
"Cruise Oregon" was born in 2001, and the participants
have traveled throughout the states of Washington, California,
into Idaho, and even Canada! We have had participants from
11 different states, and it continues to grow. The cruise
is limited to 200 cars, and the 2005 cruise had 165 classic
cars participate with ice cream socials, events in the towns
that we visited, and a week of good fun, friends, and cars!
The cruise is a one week event that covers up to 1200 miles,
with a different route every year. Along with all the fun
that we have, money is also raised for haits and community
programs such as Make
a Wish, Beat
the Heat and Mount
Hood Hospice. Donated
$5,000 proceeds from Cruise Oregon 2006 to fund a local
wish for Make-A-Wish
Foundation of Oregon. Donated
$2,500 proceeds from 2007 Cruise Oregon
to Guide
Dogs for the Blind.
The tradition continues and we look forward to many more years
of Cruise Oregon fun!
The Cruise Oregon tour is sponsored and run by the Route 26
Cruisers car club from Sandy, Oregon. All are welcome to come
along!
